Choosing Your eSIM

Q. What is eSIM?
A. eSIM stands for embedded SIM and allows you to get connected anywhere, anytime. It works like a traditional SIM card, except without a need for the physical card. As long as your device is compatible, you will be able to use an eSIM.
Q. Can I purchase eSIM prior to trip?
A. Yes, you can either purchase our eSIM before departure or after arrival, since eSIM validity starts as soon as you scan and install the QR code to your device. If you don’t scan and install the QR code, the validity won’t start. If you plan to purchase eSIM prior to your trip, please consider your trip schedule before installing it.
Q. Can I scan a same QR code with multiple phones ?
A. Sorry, you cannot. When you use your phone to scan the QR code for the first time, the binding has been established, and other phones cannot no longer scan and use the QR code. In addition, one QR code cannot be scanned multiple times, and the scan will not work if the number of scans exceeds the limits.
Q. Do eSIM plan comes with a phone number to make or receive calls?
A. You can check the plan type on the details page of each data package. If the plan type is data only, it means that voice calls and text messages are not included.
Q. Can I use my SIM card and Simvity eSIM at the same time?
A. The eSIM plan does not affect the physical card usage.
Q. Can I buy an eSIM for multiple countries?
A. Simvity offers several multi-country cards. You can get this if you're traveling to a number of different countries on a single trip. Each time you enter a new country, your eSIM will automatically connect to the best network in that country. Also, you can buy several single eSIMs, but be careful not to activate each eSIM before the usage.
Q. How do I check if my phone is unlocked?
A. You can’t use an eSIM with a locked phone. To check whether your device is locked, please check your device setting as instructed below or contact your carrier. If your phone is locked, you should contact your domestic carrier to unlock your phone before you use the eSIM plan.

Apple: Go to [Settings] – [General] – [About] and swipe down. If you can find “Network Provider Lock – No SIM restrictions” and “Digital SIM – IMEI (number will appear)” your phone is compatible with eSIM. If you find “SIM restrictions”, your phone doesn’t support eSIM.

Samsung & Google: Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [Mobile networks], Select [Network operators]. If available networks appear, the phone is probably unlocked. If only one result comes back from the network search, or if the Search Networks option is unavailable in the Networks menu, then the phone is most likely locked to the carrier.

After Order

Q. What should I do, when I didn't receive a QR code email?
A. It takes less than 20 minutes to receive a QR code via email. If you haven’t received your email, please check the followings below :

- Please check your promotion or spam folder first.
- You may have included a typo in the email address. Please let us know the correct email address via simvity.contact@gmail.com, so that we can resend it to you as soon as possible.
Q. When can I install my eSIM?
A. Most eSIMs will only activate at the destination once they connect to a supported network or any of the supported networks.

On the other hand, there are eSIMs that will activate instantly as soon as they are installed, regardless of the location. The activation policy will be either as follows

- “The validity period starts when the eSIM connects to any supported network(s)”: This means that you can install the eSIM before traveling without activating it. Once you arrive at the destination you can connect by turning on your eSIM line as long as the setup has been completed as advised on your eSIM installation page.
- “The validity period starts at the installation”: This means that your eSIM will activate instantly once installed, and hence, the validity period will start to run although you are not yet at the destination.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact support.
